B - ABNORMAL ACTIVITIES OR RESPONSES

Condition Probable Causes Suggested Remedies
Excessive Creep in First and Reverse Ranges 1. Engine idle speed set too high. 1. Adjust to correct idle speed. (Refer to vehicle service manual.)
No Response to Movement of Shift Selector Lever. 2. Shift selector linkage unhooked. 2. Connect linkage - shift selector gates must agree with model. Detent positions at transmission must conform with gates on shift selector. (Refer to vehicle service manual.)
3. Shift selector linkage defective. 3. Repair or replace linkage. Shift selector linkage must be free and secure.
4. Main pressure low. 4. Refer to Chart E, Low Pressures.
5. Shift selector not engaged at selector valve. 5. Replace defective part. (Refer to applicable service manual.)
6. Transmission fluid level low. 6. Fill to proper level. (Be sure dipstick calibration is correct for specific model.)
Vehicle Moves Forward in Neutral 7. Shift selector linkage out of adjustment, defective, or broken. 7. Repair or replace linkage. (Check engine idle speed.) Shift selector linkage must be free and secure.
8. Forward clutch failed and dragging. 8. Rebuild forward clutch.
Vehicle Moves Backward in Neutral 9. Shift selector linkage out of adjustment, defective, or broken. 9. Repair or replace linkage. Shift selector linkage must be free, and secure.
10. Fourth clutch failed and dragging (third clutch in V 730). 10. Rebuild clutch.
Reverse Warning Buzzer and/or Vehicle Backup Lights Come on During Forward Operation 11. Improper 1-2 relay valve installed. 11. Install new 1-2 relay valve.
