ZF Troubleshooting

 

A - ABNORMAL SHIFTS

           Shifts Occur at Too High Speed
           Shifts Occur at Too Low Speed - Full Throttle
           Rough Shifts
           No Specific Shift; i.e.., 1-2, 2-3, 3-4, 4-5 (Up or Down)
           Excessive Engine Flare
B - ABNORMAL RESPONSE
          
Excessive Creep in First and Reverse Ranges
           No Response to Movement of Shift Selector Lever
           Vehicle Moves Forward in Neutral
           Vehicle Moves Backward in Neutral
C - ABNORMAL STALL CHECK
          
High Stall Speeds
           Low Stall Speeds
           Stall Speed 50% of Normal
D - LEAKING OIL
          
Oil Leaking Into Converter Housing
           Transmission Fluid Leak at Output Shaft
E - LOW PRESSURES
          
Low Main Pressure in All Ranges
           Low Main Pressure in First Range,
            Normal Pressure in Other Forward Ranges
           Low Lubrication Pressure
F - CLUTCH(ES) SLIPPING
          
Slipping and Chatter in Only One Range
           Slipping in All Forward Ranges
G - EXCESSIVE ENGINE FLARE
          
Excessive Engine Flare
H - OVERHEATING

I - TRANSMISSION THROWS FLUID OUT OF FILL TUBE AND/OR BREATHER
          
Transmission Throws Fluid Out of Fill Tube and/or Breather
J - DIRTY TRANSMISSION FLUID
