TRANSMISSION THROWS FLUID OUT OF FILL TUBE AND/OR BREATHER

Condition Probable Causes Suggested Remedies
Transmission Throws Fluid Out of Fill Tube and/or Breather 1. Dipstick loose. 1. Tighten cap. Replace if necessary.
2. Transmission fluid level too high. 2. Drain to proper fluid level. (Be sure dipstick calibration is correct for specific model.
3. Transmission fluid level too low. 3. Fill to proper fluid level. (Be sure dipstick calibration is correct for specific model.)
4. Vacuum modulator failed. 4. Replace vacuum modulator.
6. Retarder linkage not properly adjusted. 6. Reset retarder linkage to proper adjustments.
7. Breather clogged. 7. Clean or replace breather.
8. Water in transmission fluid. 8. Drain and replace transmission fluid.
9. Dipstick gasket worn. 9. Replace gasket or dipstick.
10. Improper dipstick marking (improper fluid level). 10. Replace dipstick.
